The death of Ken Urker – former partner of Gypsy Rose Blanchard

Ken Urker, the former fiancé of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and the father of her daughter Aurora, was found dead at his home in Raceland, Louisiana, on October 1, 2026 — his 34th birthday. Police were called for a welfare check after Ken failed to turn up for work and family members were unable to reach him. When relatives eventually entered the home, they found him unresponsive in his bedroom. Police arrived shortly after 6 p.m. and pronounced him dead. Authorities have said there were no obvious signs of foul play, although the investigation remains ongoing.

The police report paints a disturbing picture of the scene. A handgun was found near the bed, along with a syringe and other drug paraphernalia. Investigators also found a brown powdery substance in the bathroom, as well as two shot glasses. A paper towel with what appeared to be blood was reportedly found on Ken’s arm. Importantly, there was no gunshot wound, and authorities have not announced that the gun was involved in his death.

There had apparently been concerns about Ken’s state of mind in the days before his death. Family members told police that he had been depressed and upset, was drinking heavily and had been talking about suicide. He had also reportedly been in what his family described as a “dark place.” However, his official cause of death has not been determined. An autopsy has been completed, but toxicology results are still pending. Gypsy Rose has publicly said she believes Ken overdosed, but that has not yet been confirmed by the coroner.

Ken’s death has also exposed a dispute over the state of his relationship with Gypsy. Gypsy described him as her soulmate and the father of their daughter, Aurora, and said he was struggling with the intense scrutiny and cyberbullying surrounding their lives. Ken’s sister, Autumn, has strongly disputed aspects of Gypsy’s account, saying the couple had separated more than a month before his death and accusing Gypsy of portraying their relationship differently from how the family understood it.

Ken and Gypsy had a complicated history. They first became involved while Gypsy was in prison, became engaged in 2018, separated, and later reconnected after Gypsy’s release. They welcomed Aurora in December 2024.

We have put together a timeline of Ken’’s last day –

Ken spent the evening with Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s brother Dylan and Dylan’s wife, Anita. They went to church together, and afterward they spent more time together.

According to accounts later given by those close to him, Ken appeared to be struggling emotionally and spoke about being depressed.

Later that night Ken continued talking with people close to him. His sister, Autumn, has said she spoke with him before he went home. She described their conversation as relatively normal and said Ken told her he was going home to sleep because he had work the following morning. His reported final words to her were “I love you.”

Early hours of Thursday, October 1

At some point during the early morning, Ken appeared on TikTok Live. Reports describe him as being in a vehicle and travelling, but he did not speak during the livestream. The silent livestream has attracted significant attention because of how close it was to his death. However, there is currently nothing establishing what he intended by going live or what was going through his mind at the time. There are varying reports about what time he went live – some reports say 11pm, others say 4am.

Ken was expected to go to work but did not show up. He also stopped responding to calls and messages, which caused concern among people close to him.

Gypsy has described herself as being “in disbelief” over Ken’s death. She believes he overdosed, but says she doesn’t know whether it was intentional. She said Ken had “not been in a good state of mind” and described him as her “soulmate” and a “devoted father” to their daughter Aurora.

Speaking about the depth of her grief, Gypsy said she had “screamed until my throat burns” following Ken’s death. She has also spoken about the online harassment and scrutiny Ken experienced, describing it as an “unimaginable level of public scrutiny.” She urged people to remember that there is a real person behind the screen and said she hopes Ken’s death makes people consider the impact their words can have.

Gypsy has also said she wants Aurora to grow up knowing “the genuine character of her father.” She has shared photographs of Ken with their daughter as she mourns his death.

On October 4, Gypsy launched a change.org petition in regards to ‘Kenan’s Law’.

The petition says that Ken received an “enormous amount of public scrutiny” before his death and that there was “extensive content about him that we believed crossed the line from criticism into targeted harassment and cyberbullying” across various social media platforms. She alleged they both reported this content to social media platforms, but she and Ken were often told “no violation” was found. The petition urged lawmakers to require social media platforms to implement additional procedures for handling harassment, including the ability to report multiple posts at once in cases of an ongoing pattern of harassment, rather than “forcing every incident to be evaluated in isolation.” “Kenan’s Law is about changing the way social-media platforms handle repeated reports of harassment,” she wrote on Instagram. “One post viewed alone may not tell the whole story – but hundreds of posts, videos and comments directed at one person can reveal a pattern that deserves meaningful review.” “Ken’s passing has made me determined to turn pain into purpose,” she continued. “I cannot change what happened, but I can advocate for a better system for the next person who feels like no one is listening.”

In the petition, Gypsy said Ken “died following a suspected overdose” but said “we do not know whether the overdose was intentional, and I will not speculate about circumstances that have not been determined.”

  1. This is heartbreaking to read. Whatever the full circumstances turn out to be, a little girl lost her father and a family lost someone they were clearly worried about in those final days. This family has been turned into content for years — I hope the coverage now gives them room to grieve in private. Rest in peace, Ken.
